When I can’t think in front of the computer, I take a walk. When I need to calm down, I take a walk. When my sweetie and I want to spend time together, we take a walk. I simply love to walk. Do you?
If walking is not something you even think about doing – try it today. Today is National Walking Day. You’ll find lots of information about walking at the American Heart Association’s Start Walking Now website:
- why walking is healthy (it burns calories, reduces your risk of heart disease…)
- find a walking path and/or walking club near you
- online walking tracker
Start by getting up from your desk and taking a walk around your building, skip the elevator and take the stairs, walk to lunch instead of driving, and start a walking club at work. And, if you have a hard time sleeping, work in at least 30 minutes of walking in the mid-day. Daylight helps reset your master clock in your brain – getting you back to a regular 24 hour wake/sleep cycle.
