I need my sleep…and without adequate sleep, I’m a basketcase!
But, according to the National Sleep Foundation, about 30% of us are getting along with less than 6 hours of sleep a night! Geez…I hope it’s not the pilot that will flying my plane next week!
There’s an interesting article in this past weekend’s Wall Street Journal about sleep. I found out that while 60 million prescriptions for sleeping aids have been filled, an NIH study (a meta analysis of other studies) have shown that patients taking sleeping pills fell asleep just 13 minutes faster than those given a sugar pill. And, slept just 11 minutes longer.
Maybe it’s time to get off that vicious cycle of drinking caffeine all day long…while no doubt makes it harder to get to sleep…leaving us so tired that we just need to drink caffeine all day long!
