Are you one of those people who jump from diet to diet, looking for the real secret to your extra weight? Please stop wasting your time and money!
A recent research study found that no eating plan was any better than another in terms of long lasting weight loss. They looked at studies where dieters followed Atkins, South Beach, Weight Watchers (WW), and Zone diets for anywhere from a year to two.
The thing is… that most people, who lose weight, just can’t seem to keep it off. Does that mean you should just give up trying? Heck, no!
But, be realistic. In my book, Dr. Jo’s No Big Deal Diet, I stress the importance of making small “no big deal” changes that you can realistically keep up long-term. Can you really stay away from sugar or wheat for the rest of your life? Probably not… but could you keep certain foods out of your house – and then enjoy them “out” once a week? I’m guessing that’s more realistic. Instead of making plans to join a gym and exercise for an hour a day, what about finding an exercise partner and taking a brisk 30 minute walk every day? Keep thinking and I’m guessing you could come up with your own “no big deal” diet and lifestyle changes. Make up your own rules! THIS is what works long term!
