Beanitos – filling, fun snack

As you know, I’m a big snacker…every three hours! And, to keep my energy up and

Beanitos – high fiber, great-tasting snack food

feel satiated, I look for foods with a bit of protein and some fiber.

But, after 30 years of healthful snacking, I can get bored of the same old foods. So, you can imagine my excitement to discover (at the AADE conference) Beanitos – snack chips made of beans! A one ounce serving (about 10 chips) contains 5g fiber, 4g protein, and 150 calories. They’re not only great tasting, they actually fill you up (unlike 150 calories worth of potato chips!).

The labeling on the “Pinto Beans and Flax chips” (my favorite flavor) package states the products are low glycemic (GI 44 and GL of 4), gluten-free, and corn-free.

I was told Beanitos are available at Whole Foods, Trader Joes, and health foods…not at most local grocery stores….yet! I’m going to search for them in Orlando.
